About Donna

and my journey

When I became a Christian over 25 years ago, I exchanged my passion for teaching leadership skills to managers and martial arts to karate students for teaching God's life-changing message of the Gospel to women hungry for truth. Instilling a yearning for God’s Word and a desire to be transformed by his love and grace continues to be the heartbeat of my ministry.

While I was raised in a “religious” home, I had not yet understood the extent of God’s mercy and grace and the importance of knowing that truth actually exists and matters. It was my black belt test many years ago that prompted my desire to know truth. It was a defining moment when I was asked to describe “my truth” in the written portion of that test. God helped me realize that truth is not a matter of relativity or opinion or “what works for you may not work for me,” but it actually exists and can be known. Although, I wasn’t yet sure what that truth was.

During this time of my life in the early 1990's, I was dabbling in new-age teachings, living in rebellion, battling severe anxiety, and overcoming a significant life event that rocked my world. But nothing rocked my world more than the life-changing truth of the Gospel. The proof of God’s truth and love was evident not only in my radically transformed life but in the overwhelming evidence of Christ's redeeming work on the cross and His resurrection to life three days later. The profound truth that God incarnate burst into history over 2000 years ago to offer eternal life and freedom from the bondage and deception of sin became the driving force that fueled my life’s purpose.

Over the years, it has been my blessing and honor to encourage the spiritual growth of women through my writing and teaching of Bible studies in small and large group settings. Just as I am passionate about writing, teaching, and mentoring the next generation of women,  I am passionate about my growing family of one husband, four sons, three daughters-in-law, and three grandchildren. It is always a highlight of any week when my family comes over for Sunday dinner after a great worship service at Emergence Church.
In my spare time, I love taking long walks on the beach with my husband, weight training most mornings, playing with my grandchildren and spending time connecting and laughing with family and friends over a good meal. My greatest joy, however, is sharing with those around me what matters most, the One who changed my life forever, Jesus Christ, my Savior. 🩶
